My relationship with India Fashion started some 30 years ago when I visited a Garment Exhibition being held in the Maura Hotel in Delhi Manufacturers from all over India took 1 or 2 rooms to show their clothes.
Most of the exhibitors had very similar merchandise except I/F and there was one style that stood out even more. In the afternoon I went back and introduced myself properly and that was the start of a Wonderful Friendship. It became a best selling style with repeats after repeats and affectionately known as the 8 line embroidery -- I will never forget that day
Amarjit Chadha or Ruby as he affectionately known has steered I/F through some difficult times for it to become one of the finest garment factories in India. With the unparrelled help of Geeta who I maintain is the best merchandiser in the whole world -- her understanding, interpretation and execution of the most complex styling is nothing short of genius Chotie her 2nd in Command has followed in her footsteps and assists running the large sampling unit and handles her own accounts.
Designers love working here because I/F give them all the components they are looking for :- great fabrics - accessories - embroideries etc -- and most important of all great lunches brought in from Ruby's home. Embellished garments are an important aspect of their production -- all the work is done in house - but this production is balanced by more simpler styling that rival Europe and the Far East for Quality and Price. In recent years Jaideep the Eldest son has become more involved in the business and has been instrumental in the building and fitting of a new factory unit that will not only double I/F's garment production and the installation of 2 x 750 needle ------------------------ embroidery machines give them an extra dimension and complete service that includes customers creating their own designs - quite rare in India.
Their youngest son KD has recently graduated from the prestigious Parsons Fashion School in New York and is now working and getting an understanding of the fashion business in the US This will lead to I/F expanding there in the not too distant future
I Have worked with India Fashions for years since the beginning of my career and have always been inspired by the attention to detail and handwriting at India fashion. The Interpretation and imagination from sketch to sample makes it a pleasure to work with them.
